Respectfully submitted, A. G. B. Womack, Ch. T. J. Cosby J. S. Collins Committee Obituray read and adopted as follows: Rev. E. R. Valentine died September 1st. 1894; age 26 years, 5 months and 7 days. He leaves a wife and two children, a father, mother and brothers and sister and a host of friends to mourn his depature. He joined the church in September 1888 and was licensed to preach July 6th. 1889, in which he labored as long as he was able, or till he was stricken down with consumption and never murmured or complained during his sickness, but bore it with patience ever looking forward to his depature and always admonishing all he had chance to talk with the great need of a full discharge of duty in words and deeds stating that he saw plainer than before and always wanted religious services held when opportunity offered itself and when there was no one present to officiate or conduct the services he would conduct them himself. He prayed the time would come when he would be delivered from his sufferings and he died in full triumph of a living faith in his Lord and Master. Submitted by his Grandson Bob Valentine, he is buried at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Grant Parish, LA . His wife was Mary Youngblood daughter of John J. Youngblood and Adeline Philen Youngblood. His father was John Valentine and mother Amanda J. Walker. Elijah had two sons, James Ellis Valentine, Sr. and John Willis Valentine.
