He was a member of New Prospect Baptist ,Church and: Masonic Lodge No. 261 F and AM of Pollock. He was an army veteran of World War 1. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Macy Slayter Welch of Prospect; two sons, Edward G. Welch of Lake Charles and Gary L. Welch of Tioga; five daughters, Mrs. Mildred Hodnett of Prospect, Mrs. Wilma Strube of Jacksonville, Ark., Mrs. Kathryn Bordelon of Beaumont, Tex., Mrs. Linda Anderson of Bossier City and Mrs. Margaret Chance of Lake Charles, one brother, Frank Welch of Prospect, 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Hixson Bros., Pineville. Burial will be in Frazier Cemetery in Prospect. Friends may call at.the funeral home after noon Friday.
