Burial will be in Frazier Cemetery, Prospect. Mrs. Welch 88, of Vidor, Texas, died Wednesday, April 23, 1997, in Beaumont, Texas. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and a member of the Golden Star Chapter No. 73, Order of Eastern Star, Pollock. Survivors include two sons, Edward Welch of Beaumont, Texas, and Gary Welch of Vidor, Texas; five daughters, Mildred Hodnett of Dry Prong, Wilma Strube of Jacksonville, Ark., Kathryn Bordelon of Beaumont, Texas, Linda Anderson of Benton and Margaret Baker of Brookhaven, Miss; one brother Harold Slayter of Pineville; one sister, Velma Monroe of Dry Prong; 21 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Phil Hodnett, Greg Welch, Douglas Strube, Brian Welch, Steve Anderson, and Ricky Brodelon.
