Essie Nelson West


COLFAX - Services for Essie Nelson West will be in Big Mt. Zion Baptist
Church. Burial with dismissal at 10 a.m. Friday will be in Ravencamp
Cemetery under direction of Shepard, Boyce.

Mrs. West, 70, of Colfax died Sunday, July 25, 1999, in Christus St. Frances
Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria.

Survivors include four sons, Lutcher Nelson of Westurga, Willie Nelson of
LaPlace, Albert Nelson of Folsom and Jerry Mitchell of Mandeville; four
daughters, Shirley Mitchell and Carolyn Mitchell, both of Colfax, Bobbie
Jones of New Orleans and Gloria Richards of Dallas, Texas; two brothers,
Willie Nash of Alexandria and Daton Nash of Dallas, Texas; seven sisters,
Annie Duncan of Colfax, Lovey Brown of Washington, D.C., Verdia Pierson of
Houston, Texas, Dorothy Piles, Jeneva Felton and Judy Chew, all of
Alexandria, and Cecilia Martin of Natchez, Miss.; 26 grandchildren and 24
great-grandchildren.
