Obit: Lory A. Wilkinson, Grant Parish La Submitted by: Houston Tracy, Jr. The Colfax Chronicle May 4, 1934 Former librarian, Helen Sorrell, at the Grant Parish Library had gone through some of the microfilm of the newspaper files of the Chronicle and made copies of obituaries and/or news items, which led to death. These were found in a folder on the book shelf at that library on a research trip there 13 February 1999. Copies were made and then extracted to post here in the LaGenWeb archives for Grant and Caddo Parishes. ********************************************** Copyright. Wilkinson - Died Suddenly At Montgomery - Monday Colfax citizens were deeply shocked last Monday afternoon, April 30th about 5::30 o'clock, when news reacched here that Lory A. Wilkinson had just died suddenly at the home of his uncle, Mr. D.S. Mathis at Montgomery, La. This fact was hard to realize, for only a few hours prior, he had been on the streets of Colfax enjoying good health and in bouyant spirit, as was his usual habit. Shortly before noon, he left his home in Colfax to go to Montgomery to attend to some business matters. Having attended to the purpose of his trip, he went to the place of business of his uncle, where he was taken ill at 3:30 p.m. Rallying from this spell, he went to the Mathis house, where about 5 o'clock he was seized with another attack, which affected his heart and from which he never rallied, death resulting at 5:50 o'clock. His funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, at 4 o'clock from the family home in Colfax, with the religious rites being conducted at the Colfax Methodist-Episcopal Church by Rev. J.W. Lee, pastor, assisted by Rev. L.R. Neese of Glenmora, La., Rev. J.W. Lee of Columbia, La. and Rev. M. _?_ of St. Maurice, La. (Obit runs off the page at this point)
