The Colfax Chronicle
January 30, 1886

Former librarian, Helen Sorrell, at the Grant Parish Library had gone through
some of the microfilm of the newspaper files of the Chronicle and made copies
of obituaries and/or news items, which led to death.
These were found in a folder on the book shelf at that library on a research
trip there 13 February 1999.
Copies were made and then extracted to post here in the LaGenWeb archives for
Grant and Caddo Parishes.

Married - Rhorer-Luckett

     At the residence of the bride's father, Dr. R.L. Luckett on bayou Rapides
in Rapides Parish, Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1886, Mr. Jas. M. Rhorer, Jr. of Grant
Parish to Miss Constance Luckett.
     A large gathering of relatives and friends were present to witness the
nuptial ceremonies of the happy couple and every detail that goes to make such
an occasion enjoyable was amply provided by the generous host.  After a supper
of good things fit to serve to the mythological gods, the hours were whiled
away in music and the dance until the gray streaks of dawn warned the marry
crew that Old Sol would soon be peeping over the eastern horizon.
     On Thursday the happy groom installed his new bride in the home he had
already provided for her in Colfax, having rented and fixed up the Cunningham
house for this purpose several weeks ago.
     We extend hearty congratulations to the newly made Benedict and his
bonnie bride.
