He is the son of Edward and Desire (Decuire) Delahoussaye, both of whom are natives of St. Martin parish. Edward Delahoussaye was born in 1814, and died in 1868. The subject's mother was born in 1816, and now resides near Cade. Gustave Delahoussaye received a good business education, and began planting in 1867, to which he has given his full attention since that time. He owns and controls one hundred and fifty-five acres of land in St. Martin parish, and raises annually about two hundred bales of cotton. He married, in 1861, Miss Philomine Decuir, a native of St. Martin parish, and daughter of Ovid Decuir and Adille Ozeme. To them have been born nine children: Aliza, Gaston, Francois, Adolphe, Cecile, Constance, Gustave, Leonce and Hirinne. The family are members of the Catholic church at New Iberia.
