An unusual crime is reported to have happened in Prairie Basse on the south bank of Bayou Carencro, last Thursday. It appears that Arthur Bernard and another young white man named Savoie fell into a quarrel over a hunting license, one of them claiming that the other had hunted without having an official permit. The quarrel culminated in a fist fight. In the scuffle Savoie's neck was wrenched and he died from this Saturday. His body was buried at Grand Coteau. Sheriff Lacoste learned of this affair only this morning. on receipt of the news reported to him unofficially, he dispatched Deputy Peck and Latiolais to the scene to make an investigation. - Lafayette Gazette.
