(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, January 01, 1921, Image 5 January 1, 1921 Two children, one a white boy of seven years by the name of Max Meyer who lived at Delcambre and another, a negro boy, James Andrews living here were buried Sunday and Monday from lock-jaw caused by being shot in the hand with blank cartridge pistols. Both of these children suffered agony before life became extinct. This should be an object lesson to many parents who permit their children to carry fire arms while in their teens. Almost every season can be seen on our streets children with blank cartridge pistols and fire arms of every description and unless they are seriously wounded they keep their parents in complete ignorance of their wounds until it is too late to prevent serious complications. Fathers and mothers should take heed from the two accidents which just occurred in this Parish before more of them suffer the same consequences as befell these urchins on Saturday and Sunday.
