THEOPHILE AUCOIN.

The sudden death at New Orleans on Thursday, November 20th at 10 o'clock A. 
M. of the venerable Mr. Theophile Aucoin, a resident of Morbihan brought sad 
bereavement to a large circle of devoted relatives. Mr. Aucoin had been 
ailing for some time, and not getting any relief went to New Orleans for 
surgical treatment and succumbed several hours after a surgical operation. 
Deceased was born in Assumption parish on April 28th, 1838, where he lived 
until reaching manhood. After serving for four years in the war between the 
North and South, he removed in 1877 to Morhiban, where he resided with his 
children until his life came to an end. Mr. Aucoin was well and favorably 
known throughout the Parish as one of our foremost citizens, and his death 
is deplored by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his demise, besides his 
widow, nine sons and daughters, and twenty-two grand-children. His sons are 
Messrs. Theogene Aucoin, New Iberia; U. M. Aucoin Morbihan, C. M. Aucoin, 
Olivier and Mrs. W. Douglas, Olivier; Mrs. E. Verret, Morbihan; Mrs. W. J. 
Aucoin, Morgan City and Miss Mary Aucoin, Morbihan. The funeral was 
conducted from St. Peter's Catholic church in this City on Saturday, 
November 22d, in the presence of a large concourse of sympathetic relatives 
and friends.
