Greenwood, March 20. - Dudley Avery, a prominent cotton buyer and business man of this city, died at his residence on the river front at 7:30 o'clock this morning after an illness of three weeks with pheumonia. Mr. Avery was one of the most popular young men who has ever lived in Leflore county. Coming here four or five years ago as the representative of Stewart Bros of New Orlenas, he soon forged to the front in cotton circles. After three years service with that firm he went into business for himself, and the firm of Avery & Co. has handled succesfully and profitably several thousand bales of cotton each season for three years. He was the son of Gen Avery of Avery's Island, La., and a nephew of Mrs. William Preston Johnston of New Orleans, who reared him. In 1904 he married Lizzie May, the only daughter of Judge and Mrs. Sam R Coleman, of this city, who, with one child survives him. The remains will be carried to Avery's Island, the home of Gen Avery, to night, and will be interred there to morrow afternoon.
