(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, October 03, 1903, Image 4 Our community is called to mourn the loss of one of its oldest and valued citizens Mr. Remy J. Bagarry who died Thursday morning October 1st at 1:15 o'clock. Mr. Bagarry was born in France and came to this country many years ago and at once became one of its progressive industrious citizens. He promoted several manufacturing enterprises in all of which he was successful maintaining a charactr (sic) for integrity, honor and good citizenship. He goes to his grave leaving behind him a life full of noble examples which is transmitted to his children and grand children. The funeral obsequies were held at St. Peters Catholic church where many friends paid their last respects to an honorable and valued citizen. Peace to his ashes. CARD OF THANKS. The undersigned beg to extend their sincere and hearty thanks to the many friends, especially to the Societe de Bien Faissance, for the many kind attentions and acts of sympathy extended to our Father the late Remy Bagarry during his illness. These kind ministrations will ever be remembered with gratitude. - THE FAMILY. 2nd. Obituary: source: The Meridional. (Abbeville, La.) 1856-1906, October 10, 1903, Image 2 Remy J. Bagarry, aged 78 years, a native of France, died at New Iberia on the 1st inst. The deceased came to America when a young man. He was the first man to promote an ice manufactory (sic) in this section, and for many years conducted the business quite successfully. He is survived by aged wife, one daughter and two sons.
