The saddest event we have had to record in long time is the death of Arthur C Bauman, the seven-teen-year old son of Mr and Mrs J. L. Bauman. He died Monday morning at 11 o'clock and was burried the next day at 10 A. M. from the Episcopal Church. Young Bauman was ill with typhoid fever and was confined to his bed only ten days, when the angel of death called for him and carried him off to a celestial clime, leaving his relatives and friends behind on earth to suffer his loss. Arthur was a quiet and well behaved boy, a pride and a comfort to his devoted parents, brothers and sisters, and a popular boy with his associates wherever he went. The will of the Lord, is the law on this earth, but we can not cease grieving over the loss of a young man whose conduct was at all times so becoming and manly. The Iberian and the people of New Iberia with one voice extend their deepest and most heartfelt sympathy to the grief stricken family, who have another son seriously ill with the same malady in Beaumont, where he was taken a few days ago for a change. His mother, and his brother, Willie are with little Louis, the afflicted boy in Beaumont. source: New Iberia Enterprise and Independent Observer. (New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, August 23, 1902, Image 3 LOCAL NEWS. A number of funerals this week, one of the saddest, that of Mr. Arthur C. Bauman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Bauman, which occurred at the Episcopal church last Monday. Arthur was just entering life with all the enthusiasm and promises of youth and brilliant qualities. Beloved by a host of friends his future seemed assured, but disease fastened upon him and in spite of physician's skill, or prayers of friends, his spirit passed to the great beyond, there to commence an existece which shall never end and where ties can never be broken, as in this vale of tears. The sudden demise of this worthy yong (sic) man was a great shock to the family and to the community. The funeral was largely attended, a conspicuous feature being his young companions of the Iberia Juniors Base Ball Club, who acted as pall bearers and guard of honor. To the family and friends we extend our heartfelt sympathy in this their hour of trial. Card of Thanks. The undersigned desires to express our appreciation of the many kindnesses and loving acts of the many friends of our dear brother Arthur C. Bauman, during his funeral obsequies. We desire especially to offer our hearty thanks to the Iberia Junior baseball club for the delicate and affectionate tribute to one of their members, expressed in a most beautiful manner by a floral wreath. - - J.BAUMAN AND FAMILY.
