(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, November 28, 1903, Image 3 Died, at the residence of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. L. Berry, East side on November 25th, 1903, at 9 p. m., Mrs. Sarah E. Massey, widow of William B. Berry. Deceased, had reached the remarkable age of 83 years, was the mother of John, Howard, Thomas and L. Berry, all prominent citizens of our town, the latter, Leander lost his life in the ill fated steamboat, Mary Lewis, which was sunk some years ago. The funeral was from the Catholic Church, Thursday, November 26th and was attended by many friends and relatives who loved the many noble qualities of the aged lady whose life was one of self sacrifice, patience and all the christian virtues. source: The Weekly Iberian. Berry, who passed away at her home Wednesday evening last, at the advanced age of eighty three years. Deceased was well known throughout this community and enjoyed the highest esteem, love and friendship of both the young and old who knew her.
