(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, June 27, 1903, Image 4 Death, the grim reaper, has again invaded our community and taken from thence the faithful wife and mother Mrs. Thilma M. Bertrand, wife of our old friend and citizen Mr. Alex Bertrand. Deceased had reached the age of 53 years and over. She had well and truly filled the station in life allotted to her, and her devotion and fidelity to all duties will be an inspiration to those left behind. The remains were burried (sic) in the Catholic cemetery, after the beautiful ceremonies at St. Peter's Catholic church. source: New Iberia Enterprise and Independent Observer. (New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, July 04, 1903, Image 4 IN MEMORIAM. In loving memory of Mrs. Thelma M. Bertrand, died June 26th, 1903. So calm she lay in dainty dress, With tiny rosebuds on her breast, That one would think her gently sleeping, And wonder why all were weeping. They say you are dead it can't be true, That life is over and gone for you, But yesterday it seems to be, Since tenderly you smiled on me. And now they're gathered round your bier, With freshest flowers and heartfelt tear Sobs wring the breast of one and all, he skies themselves doth wear a pall. Father and brothers, husband so true, Heavy the trial is for you; Brothers of whom she was so proud, Deep in dispair to-day are bowed. Her bonny boys, how they will miss, Their mother's smile, her loving kiss, And friends who learned to hold her dear, Will seek in vain her word of cheer. Bear up sad hearts, though gone before, She'll wait for you at the pearly door, With heaven's blossoms on her brow. Her voice has joined the Angels now. - A FRIEND.
