BOUTTE. - Our community was thrown into deepest grief when it was announced that popular Joe Boutte, had passed to the great beyond. Death had come to end his suffering Sunday evening at 6 o'clock, the skill of physicians and loving ministrations of friends could not avail, and the inevitable came. His many friends of the fraternal orders of which he was a member, performed the beautiful burial rites at the home of the deceased Monday evening, from thence the remains were followed by a large concourse of sorrowing friends to St. Peter's Catholic Church where the rites of the Church were solemnly given, from thence to the Cemetery, where his body was consigned to earth, and his spirit to God who gave it. Joseph Boutte was one the most respected citizens of Iberia, from a youth he had always borne a character for uprightness, intelligence and industry, with these qualities he soon became a man among men, and rose to the top of his profession, that of a Mechanical Engineer, whose valuable services were often required by the largest sugar plants of the State, whose interests he was constantly considering resulting in many valuable inventions for the facilitation of the manufacture of sugar, one of the most valuable of which was the invention of the hollow shaft for Sugar Rollers, the use of which was a great relief to Engineers, and a saver of time and vexatious delays. In person Mr. Boutte was genial and pleasant, a true friend, a fond father, and kind husband, over mindful of his loved ones, who were all in all to him and whose future he had in view when joining the different orders, which will place in the hands of the family ample means for their maintenance. Farewell goodfriend, we shall meet again "over there." source: The Weekly Iberian. (New Iberia, La.) 1894-1946, July 04, 1903, Image 1 Joseph R. Boutte. - At 6:30 o'clock p. m. Sunday last Joseph R.
