Mrs. Charles Breaux, nee Melaide Landry, died in Delcambre, La., at the home of 
Mr. Ulysse Landry on January 10th. She was born at Cote Gelee, Lafayette 
Parish, in March 1802 and lacked only two months to complete her 110th 
birthday. The news of the death were brought to us by Mr. Joseph Landry, a 
distant relative of the deceased, and who by the way is 79 years old.

REMARKABLE LONGEVITY.

There died January 10, 1912, at Delcambre, this parish, Mrs. Chas. Breaux, of 
the unprecedented age of one hundred and ten years, having been born March 
1802, in Lafayette parish, near Cote Gelee. Her maiden name was Malie Landry, 
sister of the late Pierre Landry.

Mrs. Breaux retained her faculties to the hour of her death, easily recognizing 
all who called on her. Her eyesight was perfect, not requiring the use of 
glasses.

She was the mother of 13 children, 5 of whom are still living. She had about 
100 decedents, consisting of grand children and great, great grand children. 
Her funeral, which occurred at Delcambre, was attended by four generations. 
Truly a most wonderful instance of the longevity to be attained in Louisiana.
