Last Saturday morning, at 11:25 o'clock, the soul of Mrs. Annie Moritz, wife of Capt. Casimer Burkart, an old and respected citizen of this town, left its tenement of clay and winged its flight to its eternal rest in the glorious realms above. She was 61 years, 11 months and 5 days old at the time of her death and had been ill for five weeks prior to the sad event. About two weeks ago she had recovered sufficiently to be able to sit up and move about the room, when a fire occurred in the home of her nearest neighbor and the shock she sustained from the excitement again prostrated her and she never recovered from it. She was a kind-hearted, charitable, Christian woman and was loved and esteemed by all who knew her. Where there was sickness, sorrow or want, there she was found ministering to the afflicted, soothing the sorrow- stricken heart and playing the role of the good Samaratan (sic). Distance nor time nor weather made no difference to her. Where a friend or fellow creature was in trouble or pain, there would she go and linger until the aching head or limbs had been eased or until the burdened heart had been relieved. Such as her are met with now and then. They are the noblest of God's creatures; angels on earth; laboring in the interest of humanity; doing the bidding of the Master. Surely of such must be the kingdom of heaven. She leaves a devoted husband, five daughters, two sons and seven grandchildren to mourn her loss, and to them, in this sad hour of affliction, we extend our heartfelt sympathy.
