Taylor Cade, of New Iberia, brother of Overton Cade of this parish, died at Mineral Wells, Texas, March 6. He was sheriff of Iberia parish for sixteen years prior to the accession of Sheriff Henderson. source: New Iberia Enterprise and Independent Observer. (New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, March 09, 1912, Image 3 The life-long acquaintances of Capt. C. Taylor Cade were shocked last Wednesday upon learning of his death at Mineral Wells, Texas, after an illness of several months. Capt. Cade was born in Lafayette Parish in the year 1849 and settled in Iberia when a young man. He was highly esteemed by all who had the good fortune of his intimate acquaintance. For many years he held positions of honor and trust and served the Parish of Iberia for eight years as its Sheriff, making an excellent public officer for the people. The remains were brought to New Iberia last Thursday evening and interred in the Protestant cemetery, Rev. R. R. Diggs, officiating. He leaves to mourn his death besides his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Chas. Holt of Galveston, Texas and Mrs. L. P. Landes of New Orleans. The pall bearers were his most intimate friends during his residence here, Messrs. George Henderson, Jules Dreyfus, Alladin Broussard, N. A. Cormier, A. J. Maumus, Joseph Norres. The honorary pall bearers being Messrs. Prospere Romero and Joseh Landry.
