St. Petert (sic) St. in New Iberia, La., on Wednesday morning, at 8;30 (sic) o'clock, November 27th, 1901, Mr. Wm. Callwell, a native of Kentucky. Born October 7th, 1823. The funeral took place from the Methodist Church on Thursday morning, November 28th, at 9 o'clock. source: New Iberia Enterprise. Caldwell, the well known and highly esteemed blacksmith, who for many years and up to the time of his death conducted a shop on upper Main street, passed away on Wednesday last, aged 78 years. His remains were buried from the Methodist church, on Thursday, followed to their last resting place by a large concourse. He leaves an only son, Mr. Homer Caldwell, who is a worthy scion of the sturdy old pioneer.
