(New Iberia, La.) 1894-1946, January 21, 1922, Image 5 MISS ROBBIE CARTER. - Although her serious illness was known by everybody in New Iberia, the death of Miss Robbie Carter came as a distinct shock and a sad bereavement to the entire community. Several weeks ago Miss Carter had received a fall that greatly aggrivated a tumor from which she was suffering, and as a result, since Christmas Day she had been confined to her bed. She was removed to Dauterive's Sanitarium several days ago, and underwent an operation on Monday of this week. She was, however, gone beyond the power of human skill, and the Grim Reaper claimed her at 8:05 o'clock Friday morning, January 20. Miss Carter was a native of Louisiana, and had been a resident of Iberia Parish for thirty five years. For eighteen consecutive years she had been connected with the Cumberland Telephone Company, and was for some time past the Assistant Manager of the New Iberia office. Miss Carter was universally loved and admired by her host of friends and associates, and was recognized as a most estimable lady. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Martha Sutton Carter, her brother, Mr. Walter L. Carter, of New Orleans, and two sisters, Miss Alice Carter of New Iberia and Mrs. Dave Rawlins of Cypremort. Besides these immediate members of the family, there were in attendance at the funeral her nieces, Mrs. A. J. Tomassi and Mrs. Henry Martini of New Orleans, Miss Allie Rawlins and Mrs. S. J. Doherty of Houston, Miss Sallye Carter and Mrs. E. L. Kussmann of New Orleans, and Mrs. George Gooch of Patterson. Her nephews and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Rawlins of Houston, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carter of New Orleans, and Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Carter of Lake Charles; her uncle, Dave Rawlins, and sisters-in-law, Mrs. Walter Carter of New Orleans, Mrs. E. S. Carter of this city, and Mrs. O. Kilpatrick of Jennings. The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, January 21st, with Reverend S. D. Roberts officiating. A large host of sorrowing friends escorted the remains to its last resting place in Rose Hill Cemetery.
