Clay, so well and favorably known in New Iberia for his noble nature and splendid work of philanthropy in rescuing children of tender age from the misery and vice springing from the poverty that is found in all large cities, died at his home in New Orleans, on Sept. 1st. Mr. Clay lived in New Iberia in 1881-'82, when he was a minister of the Methodist Church, and had many friends here who deeply mourn his loss.
