Died, at San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, January 17th, 1920, Mr. George T. Colgin, Sr., born in Alabama on October 22d, 1852. Mr. Colgin settled in New Iberia with his venerable deceased father, Dr. Colgin during the days of reconstruction, and after reraching his majority engaged in agricultural pursuits. He reared a family of seven sons and five daughters, namely: George R. Colgin, deputy in the office of Sherriff Landry, Ned, of Houston, Texas; John R. of Converse, La.; James of this City; M. A., Clarence and William now residents of New Orleans; Mrs. L. R. Colgin of Norfolk, Va.; Mrs. Byron Ells, Port San Jose, Florida; Mrs. Ortenback, New Orleans; Mrs. Rex Domengeaux and Miss Mary, New Orleans. The funeral rites were conducted by Rev. COLGIN Mr. George T. Colgin, former citizen of New Iberia, passed away at his home in San Antonio, Texas, last Saturday, after a long illness. The funeral was held from St. Peters Church Monday afternoon in the presence of a large number of sorrowing friends and relatives. The deased was a native of Alabama, being born there in 1852. He is survived by seven sons, James and George of this city, Edward of Houston, Tex., John of Converse, La., Madison, Clarence and William of New Orleans; five daughters, Mrs. L. R. Colgin of Richmond, Va., Mrs. R. W. Ells of Florida, Mrs. Rex Domengeaux, Mrs. Autendach and Miss Mary of New Orleans; one brother, R. M. Colgin, Texas, and one sister, Mrs. E. F. Millard of New Iberia.
