October 20, 2016 Funeral services for Rosie Benfiglio Collette will be held Friday, October 21, 2016, during a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Jules Catholic Church in Franklin. Following the Mass she will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery Mausoleum. Father William Ruskoski will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Byron LeBlanc, Chad Landry, Coy Landry, Christopher Collette, Reed Hebert, and Tommy Hebert. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. The mortuary will reopen Friday at 8 a.m. until time of dismissal at 9:30 a.m. Ms. Rosie was born in Franklin on February 7, 1924 to the late Frank Benfiglio and the late Carrie Rizzo Benfiglio, both immigrants from Sicily, Italy. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin and passed away at the age of 92 on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia. Mrs. Rosie was a devout Catholic, having been a member of both the Church of the Assumption, where she belonged to the Catholic Daughters, and St. Jules Catholic Church. Some of her favorite pastimes were cooking Italian food and baking pastries, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, fishing, and showering her cat with affection. Her true passion in life though was her family whom she truly loved beyond measure. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include three children, Joe Collette and his wife Sarah, Frances “Fran” C. Landry and her husband Camille, and Carrie C. LeBlanc and her husband Larry; six grandchildren, Tina C. Hebert and her husband Reed, Christopher Collette, Crystal C. Trahan and her husband Joey, Chad Landry and his wife Candy, Coy Landry, and Byron LeBlanc and his wife Hailey; 12 great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Collette; three brothers, Sam, Luke, and Frank Benfiglio; five sisters, Mary Hollier, Lena Ardoin, Pauline Amodeo, Bena Gorman, and Josie Aucoin; and six infant great-grandchildren, Ryan Hebert, Eden and Ezra Trahan (twins), and three heavenly LeBlanc babies.
