DIED: At the residence of his son, Alexis Courrege, in this city, on Thursday, the 17th instant the venerable Simon Courrege, a native of France, in his 85th year. The funeral services were held at the Catholic Church. source: New Iberia Enterprise and Independent Observer. (New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, November 19, 1910, Image 3 Died at the residence of his son, Mrs. Alexis Courrege (sic), last Thursday at 11:15 o'clock p. m., the venerable Mr. Simon Courrege in the 85th year of his age, surrounded by many of his children. Mr. Courrege was a native of Haute Pyrenees, France, and had resided New Iberia for upwards of fifty-eight years, raising a family of six children, four sons and two daughters, Messrs. Jean Courrege, J. B. Courrege, Alexis Courrege, J. M. Courrege and Mrs. Godlieb Ribbeck, of Lake Charles and Mrs. L. E. Rousseau, who for many years has been residing in France, the home of her father. Mr. Courrege was one of the pioneer landmarks of Iberia Parish and enjoyed the esteem of all who knew him for his sterling honesty and charitable disposition. The funeral obsequies were held at St. Peter's Catholic Church yesterday afternoon and was attended by a vast throng of sorrowing relatives and friends.
