(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, November 05, 1904, Image 3 MILTON J. CARSTENS. - As an evidence of the high esteem in which the lamented Milton Carstens was held, we publish below an obituary by the Glendy Burke Literary Society and resolutions by the Senior class of Tulane University, New Orleans, where he was attending when stricken with his last illness: "The sneaking hand of Death has entered into our midst once more and has quickly grasped in its octopus-like clutch, one of the brightest of our students. On Wednesday evening, October 19th, Milton J. Carstens, a member of the Senior Class of this institution died after an illness of a week of typhoid fever. Very few of the students knew of his illness and those who did know of it did not think of it as serious. Milton J. Carstens was twenty-one years of age and came from New Iberia. He was educated in the High School of that place and came to Tulane very well prepared. He entered the Freshmen Class in 1901 and took an active interest in student affairs. He was a member of the Glendy Burke Literary Society. So prominent was he in this society and its work, that he was last spring chosen as its secretary. In his death, the University loses one of the most promising of its students and one who bade fair to be of service to the world.
