(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, May 10, 1919, Image 4 ZENON DECUIR - On Friday, May 9th at 5:45 o'clock A. M., the venerable and esteemed Mr. Zenon Decuir, one of New Iberia's foremost retired citizens came to his earthly existence after only a few days illness. Deceased was born in this Parish on July 15th, 1834 and upon reaching his majority engaged in the mercantile business which he retired from active business. Despite the fact of his advanced years he enjoyed a remarkable health up to the time of his recent fatal illness. Mr. Decuir enjoyed the confidence of his fellow-citizens and possessed qualities that endeared him to all of his acquaintances. He leaves to mourn his demise, besides his devoted sons and daughters, a griefstricken widow. His children are Mesdames Edward T. Weeks, Mrs. Willie Patout of Patoutville; Mr. A. M. Decuir of Crockett, Texas and Mr. Frank G. Decuir of this City. Among his grand-children who survive him is Mr. T. R. Gayle, Jr. The funeral will be conducted from St. Peter's Catholic church this morning at 10:30 o'clock. The family have the sympathy of scores of relatives and friends throughout South Louisiana.
