Catahoula was the scene of an unfortunate accident late Sunday evening. Joseph Decuir, the eight year old son of Mr. Henry Decuir of Loreauville, was drowned in a branch Coulee of the Catahoula Lake. The unfortunate boy had gone there for a days outing, and thoughtless of his fate, anticipated a ride in a small pirogue usually handled only by skillful riders. The boy decided to cross the coulee but the attempt was a fatal one as he had not gone far when the pirogue turned and threw the boy in deep water. People were summoned but too late to save him. - St, Martinville Banner.
