Delahoussaye of this city, died at Camp Hancock, Ga., and his remains brought to his home for interment on Monday of this week. He was a victim of the Flu. When he contracted the disease he was at the Camp preparing for service in France. His brother Clarence was already in France with the American Army, and an other brother, Walter, had been serving in the American Navy for a year or more. His memory will be cherished by relatives and friends as of one who filled with all the noble aspirations and intentions of one who was ready to make the supreme sacrifice for the cause of freedom. source: New Iberia Enterprise and Independent Observer. On Thursday morning the Local Exemption Board through Sheriff Landry received another wire from Camp Hancock, Ga. announcing the demise of Eddie Romero, a son of Mr. Seve Romero of the Fifth Ward of the Parish. On Monday evening the remains of Mr. Junius Delahoussaye who died at the above named place arrived here for interment which was held from St. Peter's Catholic church at 5:30 in the same afternoon. JUNIUS F. DELAHOUSSAYE. The glory of death lies in the thing that dies - that ceases to exist or articulate - that stops its engagements, its understandings, its uncompleted work. Flesh and blood are merely forms, animated activities, slaves to the law of nature, to the will of the Creator. The invisible power that directs the purpose, controls the function of the will in the life work, gives distinction, value, intrinsic worth of personal effort, the individual endeavor. It interprets itself sometimes in self-sacrfice, in patriotism, in love, courage, devotion. It negotiates the heights of lofty manhood, of chivalry of spirit, of enchantment of soaring soul. Man, real and tangible, is made of this fibre and tissue. The thrill, the inspiration, the exaltation of man's spirit at work are merely reverebration of the golden voice of God. The beauties of creation, the harmony and concord of the handiwork of the great mystery are the silent springs whence flow the everlasting, rippling, snowpure liquid of life's immortality. In contemplation they are the reward of the man. No more exalted, inspired human being has ever donned the warrior's livery than the American soldier. A symbol of sacrifice, guarding with life and soul, the Tempple of human freedom and righteousness, history will cannonize the race from whose womb he sprang. Thus, a sentinel at the gates of Eternity, trusted, true and tried by the Nation's democracy that bred and fed him, he bears the message of liberty's children to Him who infinite wisdom will perpetuate their hopes and aspirations. - Jules Dreyfus.
