Notwithstanding the published report from Washington some months ago that Mr. Clarence J. Delahoussaye had been seriously wounded in battle in the Argonne Woods last November, his grief-stricken parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rene F. Delahoussaye entertained hopes that his wounds were such that he would soon recover. On Wednesday addressed to Mr. Delahoussaye to the effect that their son had died on November 11th, 1918. Why it took such a long time to get definite information as to whether he was dead or alive has never as yet been explained. The distressing news of last Wednesday was a great shock to the bereaved parents. Clarence was the youngest son of the family and his loss, like that of his brother, Julius, who died in a cantonment in the States a few weekds after his departure from home leaves vacant places in the home that can never be refilled. The Enterprise pays homage to his memory and joins with all the patriotic citizens of New Iberia in extending to his father, mother and only remaining brother, our sincere expression of sympathy. Clarence was an exemplary young gentleman, loved by all who had the pleasure of appreciating his good qualities. His mortal self can dissolve and return to the dust, but his soul will always live, and the day will never come when the people of New Iberia will forget that Clarence was the second son in battle to be placed on the sacrificial altar of our country.
