(New Iberia, La.) 1894-1946, July 06, 1918, Image 2 DIED - At his residence at Derouen, La., on Tuesday, July 2, 1918, at 6 o'clock a. m , Homer Delcambre, born May 12, 1870. Deceased was a son of Mr. amd Mrs. Michel Delcambre. the funeral took place from the residence on Wednesday, July 3, at 10 o'clock a.m. Interment was made in the family cemetery at Derouen. District Court of New Iberia was adjourned out of respect for the deceasod and the court officials, together with the town officials, attended the interment. source: New Iberia Enterprise and Independent Observer. (New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, July 06, 1918, Image 5 HOMER DELCAMBRE. The sudden death of Mr. Homer Delcambre which occurred at his plantation home at Derouen on Tuesday morning July 2d was a great shock to the people of this Parish. Mr. Derouen had apparently been in the best of health and the morning of his death suffered from a heart stroke and expired suddenly. He was a son of Michel Delcambre and Marie David, who survive him. Deceased was a native of the Parish and in fact was a leader among the members of his community. He was a very charitable gentleman and his influence and good deeds amongst his people was one that others could well emulate. Deceased served for four years as a member of the Police Jury and always took an active interest in matters appertaining to the welfare of the Parish. Besides his grief-stricken widow he leaves five children, namely, Mrs. Marc Derouen, Mr. Lillian Delcambre, Clarence Delcambre and Miss Odette Delcambre. Several brothers and sisters also mourn his demise. The funeral was conducted by Father Catherin of St. Peter's Catholic church in the presence of a large concourse of sympathetic relatives and friends. The Enterprise extends its condolences to the bereaved family.
