Charles Delhommer died at New Iberia Tuesday at the age of seventy-five years. Mr. Delhommer was for a number of years a resident of Breaux Bridge where he was highly esteemed. He figured prominently in public affairs and was always a leader of the people in times of danger to the State. In his death the State loses a patriotic citizen. Mr. Edgar Delhommer of this town is a son of the deceased. 2nd. Obituary: source: The Weekly Messenger. (St. Martinsville [i.e. St. Martinville] La.) 1886-1948, June 29, 1895, Image 3 Mr. Charles Delhommer, formerly a resident of Breaux Bridge, died at New Iberia Monday evening, June 24th after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Delhommer was the editor of the Valley of the Teche until the time he removed to New Iberia, about a year ago; was a forcible writer, and devoted most of his articles to the development of Breaux Bridge and vicinity. Mr. Delhommer was a good, true citizen, esteemed and respected by all who knew or came in contact with him. His mortal remains were brought to St. Martinville Tuesday evening and intered in the family tomb in the Catholic cemetery.
