One of New Iberia's popular young ladies passed away, last Sunday, at the home of her father, Mr. J. P. Derouen, at 706 Weeks Street. She was thought to be recovering from an attack of influenza, when pneumonia set in, and she succumbed in but a few days, being 22 years of age. For some time Miss Derouen had been employed as a saleslady in The Specialty Store, and was a favorite among all her co-workers, for by her happy disposition and cheerful manner she brought sunshine all around her. Out of heartfelt sorrow the Specialty Store closed down on Monday, and the entire force attended the funeral together. Miss Derouen was a faithful member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, from which place the funeral services were conducted on Monday at 10 A. M. She will long be missed by her large circle of friends, and the sorrowing relatives, and the sympathy of the community is extended to them.
