Derouen's) residence, in Petite Anse, on Saturday, September 21st, at 9:45 P.M., Mrs. Eloi Derouen, (nee Melanie Landry) aged 89 years, after many years of patient suffering. This is a sad bereavement indeed, leaving 5 children, 46 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren to mourn her loss. The deceased was well known in this section, having spent all her life here. Mrs. Derouen was a loving and devoted wife and mother, and kind neighbor, always ready to give a helping hand in sickness and distress. She was untiring in her endeavors to be a true helpmate to her good and industrious husband, who died 4 years ago. A worthy servant of the Lord, she devoted her time and life to the good of souls. As a good Catholic and by her pious devotion and many charitable qualities, she won the love and esteem of the entire community, who grieve and bitterly regret her death. She was buried, Sunday, September 22nd, at 4 P.M. in the Broussard Cemetery, at Petite Anse, when a large concourse of mourners followed her remains to its last resting place. May she be numbered among the saints in Heaven is our last and earnest prayer.
