A large concourse of relatives, friends and acquaintances attended the funeral services, which took place at the Catholic church on Sunday, August 19th, at 5 o'clock p. m. The funeral cortege started from the residence of the deceased at 4:30 p. m. Dr. Duperier had devoted a long and active life to the welfare of the community in which he lives. He was an honored citizen, having held many positions of public trust, and was a successful physician. The latter years of his life were devoted to his immediate family in the quietude of their country home just to the east of this city. source: New Iberia Enterprise. (New Iberia, La.) 1885-1902, August 25, 1900, Image 3 The announcement of the death of Dr. Frederic Duperier, on Saturday night last, cast a gloom over the community of which he was a native. In his long and useful career of sixty-seven years there were scores of friends, old and young, who had been the recipients of kindly deeds from him. While for many years he had abandoned the active practice of medicine, many were those among his neighbors who had received his gratui- tous services. A man of splendid mind and excellent judgment, his counsel was frequent- ly sought by many of the good people among whom he lived and he was fairly beloved by them. The memory of Doctor "Toto," as they affectionately nicknamed him, will long be cherished by them. He was by nature a sturdy and aggressive man and had often figured prominently in the public affairs of the town and parish, serving as Clerk of Court from 1888 to 1892. He leaves to mourn his loss a widow and nine children - four sons, Messrs. H. F., Raoul, Gabriel and George Duperier, all of whom are married; and five daughters, Mrs. Louis Indest, Mrs. William Lassalle and Misses Alphonsine, Nita and Annette. The funeral of the regretted dead, on Sunday evening, from the Catholic church, was the most largely attended witnessed here in many years, many being unable to gain admittance within the church.
