On Tuesday evening last Mr. L. Alcee Dupuy, one of Iberia's most esteemed 
citizens passed away at his home in New Iberia, aged 60 years and 6 months. 
Mr. Dupuy was for many years a merchant in New Iberia and later a planter, 
and had served the parish and city at different periods as police juror and 
councilmen. The sturdiness of character of deceased is well examplified 
(sic) in the splendid family he has reared, composed of one daughter and 
nine sons, all promising citizens, among them being Prof. A. J. Dupuy, 
principal of the Jeanerette school, and Mr. W. J. Dupuy, city collector. 
Deceased was burried (sic) from the Catholic church, on Wednesday evening, a 
large concourse of friends and relatives paying a last tribute to the memory 
of the good citizen and devoted father.

L. Alcee Dupuy.

Mr. L. Alcce Dupuy familiarly known for years throughout the parish, died at his
residence on South Weeks street Tuesday evening at 8:2 oclock (sic). It was known
Tuesday afternoon that Mr. Dupuy was very dangerously ill but none thought that the
end was so near. The remains were burried (sic) from the Catholic church Wednesday
evening at 3. oclock (sic). 

The Iberian extends it's condolances (sic) to the grief striken (sic) family in their
great loss, and it hopes that time the great healer will salve over the feeling of loss
and desolation that now fills the hearts of the bereved (sic) ones.
