(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, March 24, 1917, Image 8 A TRIBUTE. - A just tribute to a woman's beautiful life contains three chief events: born, married, died. Mrs. Sidney B. DeBellevue, nee Felicia DeBlanc, was born twenty-seven years ago, was married seven years ago, and died seven days ago. Felicia DeBlanc entered this life at the family home in New Iberia, grew up to girlhood a shining sunbeam of joy and inspiration to her parents and friends, was educated in the St. Joseph's Academy at Bay St. Louis under the care, direction and influence of those saintly women who give their lives to the Master's work. She was of a deeply religious nature, and loved the offices of her church. As charitable as devout, many live to bless the ministry of her hands. As companionable as a beautiful soul, a clean heart and cultivated mind can make a woman, she was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her. With everything to live for, a beautiful home, a worshiping husband whom she most devotedly loved, a dear little girl just budding for womanhood, yet when she became aware of her fast approaching dissolution, she found strength, to cheer her family, comfort her husband, and meet the call of her Maker with a smile and perfect trust. God's ways are most mysterious and finite mind may not probe the why's of infinite decree. We may never know why such women so sadly needed by life, so richly deserving of life, are called beyond, when life holds so much to be lived for; while so many are left that are a menace to peace, good will and righteousness. The King of Life had touched her face And grew a smile, The sunshine loved to linger around her mouth Most all the while; The radiance of her beaming face Made light the day, For those whose precious privilege it was To pass her way. We feel that Providence to us Was most unfair, To let our days run into many years, And she not there; May God who loved and called her home At our great cost. Teach us to live our lonesome days Without our loved, our lost. - Leo. D.
