(New Iberia, La.) 1894-1946, March 18, 1922, Image 5 EMILE GAJAN. - After an illness of many months, which had gradually sapped his strength, Mr. Emile Gajan, prominent business man of this section, died at his home in Schriever, on Thursday, march (sic) 10th, at 7:30 P. M. Mr. Gajan was a self-made man, who had risen to influence absolutely through his own energies and abilities. He had but a few months ago purchased the great plantation surrounding Schriever, comprising many hundred acres, large sugar factory, and practically the entire town of Schriever. This immense transaction was the crowning effort of his life, and it is unfortunate that untimely death intervened to prevent him enjoying the fruits of ultimate success. The funeral services were conducted from St. Peter's Catholic Church, Friday at 5 P. M., with a large concourse of friends and acquaintances attending, including the Knights of Columbus Lodge, of which he was a loyal member.
