NECROLOGICAL.

DIED: At his residence at Burke station on Friday night at 10 o'clock, 
Sylvanus Gall, born at Pattersonville, La., August 1st, 1854. His funeral will 
take place from the Methodist Church in this city this afternoon at 3 o'clock.

Died at his residence near Burke Station, Sylvanus Gall, aged sixty years. Mr. Gall,
a native of Patterson, La., came to Iberia with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs.
Jasper Gall, when an infant, and spent practically his entire life in this Parish.
Home loving and retiring in disposition, Mr. Gall took but little part in public
affairs and was known to comparatively few people. Honest, truthful and ever ready
to extend a helpful hand to others, each acquaintance was also a friend. These formed
a sorrowful cortege which accompanied him to his grave from the Methodist church last
Friday afternoon. Mr. Gall was twice married. His first wife, Miss Porter, daughter of
Judge Porter of Opelousas, died several years ago leaving three children, Messrs. Jasper
and James Gall and Miss Lillian now the wife of Mr. Edwin Bernard. Some years later, he
married Miss Katie Winters of this Parish who survives him with several children. Besides
these he is mourned by three sisters, Mrs. Clement Young, Mrs. E. A. Pharr and Mrs. Leon
Lemaire. Another sister, Mrs. Jno. C. Curtis preceeded him to the grave some years ago.
