Alonzo Garret, who formerly lived in New Iberia, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Grout, on August 5th, aged 69 years. A native of St. Mary parish, he leaves two daughters and one son to mourn his loss, Mrs. Hugh Lynch of this place; Mrs. Grout of Patterson, and Arthur Garrett of Morgan City. source: The Weekly Iberian. (New Iberia, La.) 1894-1946, August 18, 1900, Image 5 Mr. Alonzo Garrett, aged 69 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Grout in Patterson, La, last Saturday, August 5. His funeral took place from Holy Trinity Church, Rev. H. R. Carson officiating. A large concourse of friends and acquaintances came up from Morgan City to attend the funeral. Mrs. Garrett, who died some years ago, was a member of one of the best known families of this parish. He leaves two daughters and one son, Mrs. James Grout, of Patterson, Mrs. Hugh Lynch, of New Iberia, Mr. Arthur Garret, of Morgan City. Peace to his ashes --Ex Mr. Garret was well known here, having been a resident of this place for many years. (Ed.)
