(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, April 23, 1910, Image 3 Last Monday morning at 6:30 o'clock a. m., Mr. and Mrs. Rene Girard had the sad misfortune ot losing their little daughter, Lucille Ann Girard, aged about four months. The funeral was held the following morning from St. Peters Catholic Church. The Enterprise extends its sympathy to the bereaved parents. IN MEMORIAM. Tuesday morning at 8 o'clock all that was mortal of Little Lucille, age four months, baby girl of Mr. and Mrs. Rene Girard, was laid to rest, buried in a mound of flowers. The sad ceremony was made more solemn still, as the young mother, who is a Convent graduate and has spent her happiest days at the Convent as a boarder, begged for four little boarders to bear herm "own precious darling" to the grave. So it was, that four dear little girls were chosen to perform this sacred duty; to grant the wish of "a dear heart loved by Mount Carmel." The litte girls were Ethel Darby. Ruby Howarka. Rose Rom- ero and Anna Melancon dressed in pure white—they reminded one of the "Angels of God" bearing to His Sacred Heart, the Innocent, the Pure. Reverend Father Langlois, who but last year in the Convent Chapel, married, united these two loving hearts in the sacred bonds of matrimony, also pronounced upon the tiny little coffin the "last solemn words" after which Lucille, our little Angel was bourne to rest. A gold tipped cloud against a summer sky A sun kissed was on a Southern sea; A sweet perfume where the violets lie, A gust of wind - and Eternity." The light of Home. How brightly it beamed; when evening shades around you fell. Lucille you came to your dear heart-broken mother, in the morning of her womanhood - when the glorious sun kissed the purple hills of youth and slanted down the valley when the flowers slept. Christ was about to shed His Glorious Rays. His nativity was nigh, and Thou like a pure ray of sunshine crept softly into the hearts and home of your dear parents — to live there, to teach these tender hearts that all nuist live Above and Build Beyond the stars to teach them that hearts are made stronger and purer by suffering. You came little Angel while life tender and true" — young and strong. Your smile was sunlight — your short life a joy, that in passing mellowed into something holier still. But just when the sun was in all his glory and the flowers all radiant with light, shake from their heads the sparkling dew; you little Angel cast a last smile upon your young mother and like a feather, you are wafted by the wind—into Eternity. We will miss you, "Baby Luille" but, with the eyes of faith we see your little form bending, o'er your broken-hearted mother showering blessings from the God who sends His Angel to bless and better this world. We see the glimmer of a new star that never shone before on the "happy home" of your parents and 'neath it's rays, the rebellion dies down. Resignation, submission to the Will of God comes and we thank you for the message, feeling that you too remember. Baby, farewell! Keep thy watch! Pray for your young loving mother this prayer: Help her to do her woman's share, Make her courageous, strong to bear Sunshine or shadow in her life Sustain her in her daily strif To keep content. M.
