Mr. Gueydan was the founder of the town of Gueydan, owner of a large portion of the town site and much land in Vermilion parish. He has done much to improve that parish, and his death is a loss to Southwest Louisiana. -- Crowley Mirror. ************************************************************************************** 2nd. Death notice: source: The Lafayette Gazette. (Lafayette, La.) 1893-1921, December 01, 1900, Image 2 Mr. Jean Pierre Gueydan, father of H. L. Gueydan, editor of the Gueydan News, died in Paris last week. Mr. Gueydan was a very enterprising citizen and to him more than to anyone else is due the development of the country around the town of Gueydan. Though a native of France he had long since become thoroughly identified with this country and its institutions. ************************************************************************************** 3rd.
