DEATH OF MRS. JAMES GEBERT. - While not unexpected the death of Mrs. James 
Gebert, widow of the late President of the People's National Bank, yesterday 
morning at half past nine o'clock was a shock to her many friends. It is 
only a short time since, that she and her husband were the life of many a 
gathering but the death of Mr. Gebert was a blow from which Mrs. Gebert 
never recovered. Surrounded by the most loving friends and relatives it 
might be said that she literally grieved her life away. Since the 
bereavement she has never appeared in public and of late it became apparent 
that her death was only a matter of time. There was no immediate family of 
her own, but her mother and other relatives were constantly at her side 
endeavoring to cheer her. She was a native of St. Mary Parish, the daughter 
of Judge Fred. L. Gates, and as Miss Amoret Gates was a belle with a myriad 
of friends when she was married to Mr. Gebert about fifteen years ago.

Mrs. Gebert was laid to rest to day, the service taking place in the 
Episcopal Church.

DIED. - At her residence on Friday, Sept. 13th, 1907 at 9:30 a. m. Mrs. 
James L. Gebert nee Amoret Gates, born August 7th, 1859.

A large number of sorrowing relatives, friends and acquaintances attended 
the funeral which was held in the Episcopal church at 10 o'clock this 
morning.

The Iberian extends its deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.
