(New Iberia, La.) 1885-1902, July 10, 1897, Image 3 On Saturday evening last, Mr. Patrick Hanley died at his home, at this place, aged 56 years and 6 months, after a protracted illness, of several months. Several years ago Mr. Hanley lived here, being in the employ of the Southern Pacific R. R. as section foreman; he was subsequently transferred to St. Mary, and a few months ago removed again to New Iberia, opening a store in the Emmer building, on Main street. Deceased was endowed with many manly qualities and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. He was a member of the order of Knights of Honor and the members of Iberia Lodge 3*55, accompanied in a body his remains to their last resting place, the funeral ceremonies being held at the Catholic church on Sunday evening last. Deceased leaves a widow and large family to mourn his loss, and to them we offer sympathy in the affliction that has befallen them.
