(New Iberia, La.) 1894-1946, December 24, 1910, Image 3 Mr. and Mrs. Marcel Hebert, living about four miles above this place, suffered the loss of their six weeks old baby girl in a most distressing manner. Mrs. Hebert purchased a can of condensed milk for the child and diluted a part of it in the usual way, giving some of it to the baby in its nusing (sic) bottle. The infant immediately went into spasms showing the most distressing symptoms of pain. Dr. Shaw was summoned, but he could do nothing for the relief of the baby, and it soon died. An examination of the child showed severe burns about the throat and mouth, similar to those caused by carbolic acid. The milk will be subjected to analysis and report made later. Additional Comments: Infant of Marcel Hebert (FAG # 144514068) and Leah Dugas (FAG # 140879110).
