(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, July 04, 1903, Image 4 A heartbreaking accident occurred last Wednesday evening at the Segura plantation, this Parish, in which Mr. Leo Hebert of Jeanerette lost his life. Mr. Hebert was one of our most energetic rice planters and while operating the pumping plant became entangled in the belting which precipitated him against the fly wheel of the engine, causing such serious damages that he expired in a few hours. Deceased left a wife and several young children to mourn his untimely loss. His remains were buried from the Catholic church last Thursday evening, attended by sorrowing friends. The sad event has cast a gloom over the community.
