(New Iberia, La.) 1902-1944, December 31, 1910, Image 3 Last Wednesday morning about 7 o'clock, when in the act of crossing his fence with a loaded shot gun, Mr. Fernand Judice had the misfortune of having the entire portion of his head blown off, no one witnessing the accident. it seems that Mr. Judice was leaving his home, situated in Little Fausee Pointe preparatory to a days hunt as was his custom for many years, and when in the act of getting through a barbed wire fence only a few feet away, the hammer of his gun in some manner got caught in the wire prongs, causing its discharge and the entire load of shot penetrated one side of his head, blowing his brains as much as twelve feet from where the body lay. The Coroner, Dr. J. W. K. Shaw, beng (sic) absent from this City at the time of the accident, Sheriff Henderson succeeded in getting Dr. Guy A. Shaw of Loreauville to hold the inquest over the body. From what we can learn, Mr. Judice was an excellent citizen in the prime of life, being only about 35 years of age, leaving a mother and several sisters to mourn his loss.
