DEATH OF MR. JOHN LAMPEREZ.

Died, at his home on the East Side of New Iberia, after an illness of but a 
short duration on Friday morning at three o'clock a. m., the venerable Mr. 
John T. Lamperez, at the age of 69 years and 4 months. Mr. Lamperez was one 
of this City's landmarks and has engaged in the bakery business in New 
Iberia almost continuously since the civil war, serving on the Council of 
New Iberia several times, always giving his advice and assistance in 
everything that pertained to the welfare of his home town, a man who always 
helped the needy, if within his province to do so, and many times even to 
the detriment of his own family. Deceased leaves to mourn his demise a widow 
and eight children, all having reached their majority, consisting of Mrs. W. 
F. Emmer, of Beaumont, Texas, Mrs. Henry C. Broussard, Miss Clotilde, Miss 
Lena and Messrs. Alfred, Jack, Gustave and Edwin and a sister, Mrs. John 
Emmer. He was a member of the Societe de Bienfaisance of this City and a 
life long member of Iberia Fire Company No. 1, who attended the funeral 
services in a body, which was held at the Catholic Church yesterday evening 
at 5:30 o'clock p. m., and was followed to his last resting place by a large 
following of sorrowing relatives and friends. Peace to his ashes.
