Mr. Landry was an ex-Confederate soldier, and a native of this section, haveing been born and reared near what is now the town of Delcambre. He was widely and favorably known in both this and Iberia parishes, as a widewawake and progressive citizen. He is survived by his wife, aged 83 years and six months, and six children: Drozin Landry, Ladovic Landry, Mrs. Duprelon LeBlanc, Home Landry, Dr. Adolph Landry, and Fernand Landry. There are also 75 living grand and great- grand children of this venerable couple. His funeral took place Tuesday, April 17th, from the Catholic Church in Delcambrre, and he was laid to rest in the quiet little cemetery at that place. The funeral was largely attended, people coming from distant parts to do the last honors to the grand old man. His pall bearers were selected from his grand children and the following were called upon to serve: D. P.O. Landry, Odey F. Landry, Ed L. Landry, Odeas Landry, Ophelias Landry and Whitney J. Landry. The Meridional extends its sincerest sympathy to the bereaved family. Men must endure Their going hence, even as their coming hither; Ripeness is all.
