(Abbeville, Louisiana) Saturday, March 18, 1905, page 1 Joseph Landry, Jr., one of the most prominent planters and esteemed residents of Iberia Parish, died at his residence in Prarie [sic] Carlin last Sunday at 6 a. m., of Pleurisy. The deceased was forty-eight years of age. The funeral took place Monday at 1:30 a. m. Interment was in the Broussard Cemetery near Derouen. The services at his late residence and at the Broussard Cemetery were sad and impressive. Rev. Father Vanderbilt, of Delcambre, officiated at the obsequies. Joseph Landry, Jr., was well and favorably known throughout the parish. His health has caused heartfelt sorrow to his numerous friends as well as his family, to whom we extend our sympathy in their sad affliction. He leaves bereaved wife and seven children to mourn his untimely death.
